Glenardle Lodge is a large modern villa which accommodates 10 people in 5 bedrooms (4 king size doubles and a super king size double or twin) and ground floor room with double sofa bed. There are 2 en suite shower rooms, as well as a large family bathroom with separate shower cubicle and a shower room on the ground floor adjacent to the room with double sofa bed. The house occupies an idyllic location in the small village of Bridge of Cally, set high on the banks of the river Ardle, amongst the pine trees with stunning views of surrounding woodland and forest. Guests can enjoy a variety of walking routes from the house and nearby - It is an ideal location to explore the Perthshire Hills and the Angus Glens. The Cateran Trail passes within walking distance of the house. The ski slopes of Glenshee are a 30 minute drive north, with Braemar a further 10 miles north.
As well as walking and mountain biking, there are plenty of opportunities for country sports such as fishing, hunting and shooting. There are several renowned golf courses locally, including Rosemount, Blairgowrie, Alyth, Pitlochry and Dalmunzie. The house has fantastic communal space - a stunning and spacious open plan living and dining/kitchen area with floor to ceiling windows and views out into the garden and the hills and forest beyond the river Ardle. The large dining table will comfortably seat 10 people making the house a wonderful location for celebratory get-togethers. The large open plan modern kitchen is spacious and well supplied with quality kitchen equipment and appliances. There is a large kitchen island and breakfast bar.
The south facing floor to ceiling windows from the kitchen/living room open onto the south facing terrace where there is a bbq area and large table and seating area. Close to the house on the terrace, in a sheltered and private spot enjoying the fabulous woodland garden and stunning views beyond, is a 6 person hot tub. The house is furnished to a very high standard. Heating, electricity, starter supply of logs, towels and linen are all included in the rental cost. There is free wi-fi access and DVD player and a collection of films, as well as books and games for you to enjoy. Glenardle Lodge has a large, peaceful and enclosed mature garden, which incorporates lawned areas and woodland with many large pine trees. Red squirrels as well as many species of birds and other wildlife can be seen in the garden.
The house has a large vestibule which has ample hanging/storage space for coats/shoes/boots, skis etc.
The spacious main hall provides access to the ground floor rooms and staircase to the upper floor.
The spacious drying/boot room with sink, has washing machine, tumble dryer and pulley for drying.
Open plan Living/Dining/Kitchen
The main living space is a large open-plan area.
With floor to ceiling windows, the living space looks out onto the garden and, for wildlife enthusiasts provides hours of pleasure – watching the red squirrels, pheasant, and other birds and wildlife. There are 2 large sofas and easy chairs that can seat the majority of your guests. There is TV and DVD player (freeSat) and this is a wonderful place to retire to in the evening in front of the wood-burning stove. For musicians, the grand piano provides an added attraction.
The open-plan kitchen is well equipped with an induction hob, double oven, a microwave, large fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is a large kitchen island and breakfast bar. A high chair is available on request.
With its large dining table seating 10, the dining area will accommodate large family gatherings/celebrations or group get-togethers at the end of the day.
The house is heated with under-floor heating (radiators upstairs) by wood pellet central heating and there is a wood-burning stove in the open-plan living room.
There are 5 double bedrooms, 2 of which are en suite and there is an additional family bathroom with separate shower cubicle. On the ground floor there is an additional living room with double sofa bed if needed with shower room adjacent. One of the rooms with en suite facilities has a 'zip and link' bed, giving the option of twin or super king. There is also a travel cot.
Luxury linen and towels are all included in the rental cost.
As well as the two en-suite shower rooms, there is a main bathroom which has both a bath and separate shower. There is also a shower room/WC on the ground floor.
The house has a large garden with patio, garden furniture and BBQ and basketball net.
The village shop/post office, hotel with bar and restaurant, and ski hire are all within 5 minutes walking distance of the house.
There is ample parking for several cars within the drive.
There is wi-fi access.
The house is a non-smoking house.
We will accept 1-2 well-behaved dogs for an additional fee.
